Background on the Bitcoin Fear and Greed Index

Similarly to the Fear and Greed Index most known for analyzing sentiment in the stock market, the same methodology is applied to Bitcoin as a tool to measure of market sentiment and indicate whether investors are feeling greedy or fearful.

The index is based on a number of factors, including price changes, volatility, and trading volume, all of which help derive the index score.

The index ranges from 0 to 100 and breaks down into these categories

Fear & Greed
  • 0-24 = Extreme Fear
  • 25-45 = Fear
  • 46-53 = Neutral
  • 54-74 = Greed
  • 75-100 = Extreme Greed
